Raptor Show * Storytelling * Children's Activities

 

Oregon Zoo
Live Raptor Show and Display

Come see live raptors including hawks, eagles, and falcons in flight. Let the experienced staff from the Oregon Zoo teach you about these birds of prey and learn which ones are found on Ridgefield National Wildlife Refuge. You can get a close-up look at these magnificent birds and find about Oregon Zoo's conservation programs.

Live Raptor Show:

Storytelling Tent in Davis Park

Come visit with storytellers Nancy McQuillan and Jim Lewis in Davis Park as they tell stories starring birds, birds, and more birds! Nature lovers of all ages are welcome to participate.

Children's Activities

Our children's activities will appeal to visitors of all ages. Join us at BirdFest on Saturday and Sunday from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm and participate in a wide variety of activities:

Play Bird Bingo!
Learn all Things Owl!
Make an Owl Mask or Puppet!
Origami!
Cattail Art!
And More!

 

River S Unit

  • Play Bird Bingo as you travel around the River "S" Unit.
  • Mark birds off as you find them. Three in a row wins a prize!

Davis Park

Davis Park will be owl central as we celebrate owls with many fun activities for everyone!

  • Make an owl mask or puppet.
  • Dissect an owl pellet.
  • Owl origami.
  • Owl jewelry.
  • Test your "owl" skills.
  • Play our "Whoo Knows Owls" game.

 

Cathlapotle Plankhouse

Our children's activities at the Cathlapotle Plankhouse will introduce you to the lifestyle of Chinookan culture. Come experience Native American technology on Saturday and Sunday! For children of all ages.

  • Cattail Art: Work with cattails to make a mat, toys and other cattail creations.
  • Grind hazelnuts by hand to make meal.
  • Split cedar planks with a wedge and maul (learn what a maul is!).
  • Make a primitive fishing hook.
